September/October 2017: I reunited with Kevin Jandrists, whom I performed with in Walkabout's summer show last year, to direct I'll Be Seeing You. Written and performed by Jandrists, I'll Be Seeing You features song, live music, and shadow puppetry to tell the personal, yet epic tale of love, denial, and acceptance. Produced by Broken Nose Collective, this is their first full length show. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram!
August 2017: It isn't truly summer without Walkabout! This summer we present The Persephone Pageant in conjunction with Night Out in the Parks. This show assembled a TRUE dream team. I can't believe I get to share the room with so many trailblazers and artists I admire - Jessica Thebus, Sarah Ruhl's text, Mark Manning, Kristina Isabelle. I'm in awe!
July 2017: Hot off the heels of the reading, I directed the short play, Shelter in Place by Corey Chan, at the Chicago Theatre Marathon. The inaugural marathon presented 26.2 hours of work in 3 days to explore the theme "I am Indomitable."
July 2017: This summer was filled with small projects and new work! I directed and produced a developmental reading of The Man Who Was Thursday adapted by Eric Duhon from the novel by G.K. Chesterton. We gathered a wild and hilarious group of actors to perform at The Lincoln Loft in a one night only reading.
June 2017: I am honored and very excited to be selected for the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation Observership Class of 2017-2018. SDCF provides mentorship and access to directors and choreographers. Putting yourself out there is a challenge and definitely one I'm continually working on. I'm very excited to be a part of this group (with some familiar faces) as I devote myself more to directing and choreographing!
April 2017: In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, I co-created a dance arts festival Making (the) Movement with Sonja Lynn Mata and Grace DeSant in association with (re)discover theatre and Pursuit Productions. We were graciously featured in the Chicago Reader, and we donated all of our proceeds to three amazing organizations that work to combat sexual assault: Awakenings Foundation, Rape Victims Advocates, and Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation. It was humbling to work with so many talented and driven artists who shared their stories of survival, body love and acceptance, and resilience. We all must do our part to end sexual violence especially through the power of art.
March 2017: Bonnie and Clyde by Adam Peck opens at the Lincoln Loft and runs through April 22nd! Get your tickets and learn more here.
February/March 2017: I participated in a week of intensive rehearsals for She Loves New York written and directed by Olivia Lilley and choreographed by Cheryl Cornacchione Nowlin for Pivot Arts 2017 Incubator Program in association with Loyola University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts.
January 2017: My next directing/choreographing project is kicking in to full gear! I will be assistant directing and choreographing Bonnie and Clyde by Adam Peck with Titus Ship Productions which goes up at the end of March. We had a super sexy photo shoot, and our fundraiser is on January 27th! I'll be the "broad behind the bar." Don't be a stranger!
